Demountable caravans, for the uninitiated, are those which can be detached from the towing vehicle but generally is shaped to go up and around it when attached. They seem to be relatively common in the U.S and on the Continent, and are gaining in popularity in the UK. Demountable caravans tend to be fairly compact in nature, providing maximum space with a sleeping cabin above the towing vehicle. This makes them quite suitable for remote touring, as their compact nature makes them easier to manoeuvre in tighter spaces. Mounting and demounting modern models is pretty straight forward, so once you are at your destination, you can unhook and make use of your towing vehicle during your stay.
