Walkers will benefit from the many routes we have available to suit any age & levels of ability. The more experienced of walkers will enjoy the challenge of the local Cateran Trail - being the long distance staged route which will follow the steps of marauding clans & cattle thieves within the Highlands. For the real enthusiast, hill walking & climbing abound. Of the 284 Munros (mountains over three thousand feet) in Scotland, twelve or more can be found within the vicinity of Glenshee about 16 miles north of Glenisla.
Those with the interest in Wildlife & Bird watching, the nearby Loch of Lintrathen is internationally important wetland reserve for the wintering wildfowl. At summer, ospreys have been known to fish at the loch. You can observe these birds of prey nesting by the Loch of the Lowes by Dunkeld. There is a wide range of wildlife as well as different species to regularly spot in the surrounding area - including red squirrels & deer.
As a cyclist you can choose between travelling on the relatively traffic-free roads that wind through breathtaking scenery or the numerous forest tracks and the mountain trails.
You can arrange horse riding at Glenmarkie riding stables in Glenisla & Pathhead, Kirriemuir.
Or as a Golfer you have a choice of over sixty courses in Perthshire & Angus, Tayside all within one hours' drive. These will include local courses of Alyth, Strathmore & Glenislaand Rosemount - Blairgowrie. Several championship courses, Carnoustie, St Andrews & Gleneagles are only under fifty minutes drive.
Anglers can be given permits from Blairgowrie to fish for brown trout & salmon our many rivers, lochs & reservoirs within the area. In winter, Downhill Skiing - Snow Boarding takes place in Glenshee & Glenisla has its own.
